Scholarship for families who lost loved ones as a direct result of the crash of Continental Airlines Flight 3407 in Clarence, New York on February 12, 2009 cover the cost of attending college in New York State.

Flight 587 Memorial Scholarships provide financial aid to children, spouses and financial dependents of individuals killed as a direct result of American Airlines Flight 587’s crash in the Belle Harbor neighborhood of Queens, New York on November 12, 2001. The Scholarship program will help the 266 families who lost loved ones cover the cost of attending college in New York State.

The ASCAP Foundation Irving Burgie Scholarship was established to support an aspiring African-American songwriter from New York City. This annual scholarship is awarded alternately between the Berklee College of Music and the University of Southern California. The recipient is selected by the music faculty of each school.

The Meland Foundation grants funding for scholarships to nurses in the NJ-NY-CT-PA area with BSN degrees wishing to pursue Nurse Practitioner degrees with a pediatric specialty and who share the vision of the Foundation. The Meland Foundation founded by a beloved pediatrician who built a successful family medical practice in Northern New Jersey provides and supports inspirational and informational programs to enhance the ability of families to care for loved ones and to provide hope to patients and their caregivers.

The Military Enhanced Recognition Incentive and Tribute (MERIT) Scholarship provides financial aid to children, spouses and financial dependents of members of the United States Armed Forces or state organized militia who at any time, while New York State residents, died or became severely and permanently disabled while performing their military duties, whether in combat or not.

The NYS Math and Science Teaching Incentive Program is offered to encourage students to pursue careers as math and science teachers in secondary education (grades 7-12). Awards are made to students attending school at the undergraduate and/or graduate degree level in exchange for five years of full-time employment as math or science teachers in secondary education in NYS.

Scholarship for children, spouses and financial dependents of deceased firefighters, volunteer firefighters, police officers, peace officers (including NYS Correction Officers), and emergency medical service workers who have died on the job.

The NYS STEM Incentive Program provides tuition awards to students who are New York State residents attending a public degree-granting college or university located in New York State. Recipients must be in the top 10 percent of students of their high school graduating class, pursue an approved, two or four-year STEM degree program and agree to live in NYS and work in a STEM field in NYS for five years after graduation.

Awards scholarships of $500 and $1500 per year to students achieving academic excellence while in high school.

The New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) helps eligible New York residents pay tuition at approved schools in New York State. An annual TAP award can be up to $5,665. Because TAP is a grant, it does not have to be paid back.
