High school and university students can boost their study performance with the ANSWER Method, a set of six science-based strategies for effective learning. These strategies are designed to help students prepare for exams and learn more effectively.
The ANSWER Method includes Elaboration, which involves asking questions about the material being studied. For example, when studying calculus, students can ask questions such as “How do derivatives work?” and “Why does this happen?” When studying neural communication, students can ask questions such as “How does neural communication work?” and “Why have myelin sheath?”
The ANSWER Method also includes comparing ideas to learn how they are similar and different. For example, an axon and terminal buttons are both parts of a neuron, but the axon sends an electrical signal while the terminal buttons release chemicals.
