This course provides an in-depth overview of Indian vocal music, with a focus on the North Indian tradition. It covers topics such as swar, raga, thaat, geet, gazal, bhajan, filmy music, Ravindra music, western music, music composition, and music direction. It also includes a short historical survey of music and a detailed study and practice of techniques of swar sadhana. Additionally, the course explores the interdependence of classical and folk music, as well as the importance of semi-classical music.
