This course provides a comprehensive introduction to research ethics and the ethical issues that researchers may encounter in various contexts. Through the use of case studies, videos, interviews, and discussions, participants will gain an understanding of how ethical issues arise in research practice. Exercises and open discussion boards will be used to engage with the course materials and other participants. The course will equip participants with the skills to identify ethically sensitive or problematic issues in different research settings and to think about research in ethically responsible ways. Participants will also learn to apply their moral reasoning in practical, real-life scenarios in research and to identify and question their own ethical biases. Ultimately, the course will provide the tools needed to conduct an ethical assessment of a research project, both individually and as part of a research ethics committee.
