This course provides an interesting and engaging way to learn about the Iptables Firewall and how to protect it from network attacks. Participants will learn how to configure the VirtualBox virtual environment for network testing purposes, gain an understanding of networks and protocols from the ground up, and use tools such as Nmap, nping, hping3, Wireshark, and Dsniff to subject the firewall to a series of network attacks and scans. Additionally, participants will learn how to configure the firewall to prevent these attacks. The course also covers topics such as network devices, types of network attacks, and network-related problems. Solutions to problems encountered during system configuration, Nmap and Wireshark running on the same machine, and iptables commands are also included. To make learning easier, commands are presented on the COMMAND BAR in a large magnification and useful tips are provided on the blue boards throughout the course.
