This course, Android Basics: Make Your First App, is designed for students who are new to programming and want to learn how to build Android apps. No prior programming experience is necessary. Through this course, students will learn the basics of Android and Java programming and take the first step on their journey to becoming an Android developer.

By the end of the course, students will have learned how to build an app’s layout and will have practiced those skills by making a birthday card app. This course is a great opportunity for students to become creators of technology, as Android powers over 80 percent of the world’s smartphones. It is also a great way to reach the next billion people coming online, as they will interact with the internet for the very first time on a mobile device.

Students should bring enthusiasm for learning and budget time on their calendar to learn with us. With the skills learned in this course, students will be able to make an impact in their community and on the world.
