This scholarship serves as a supplement to the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship for foster children (defined as students who have been in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children's Services for at least one year after reaching age fourteen).

The HOPE Scholarship for nontraditional age students (that is, ones who are at least 25 years of age entering an eligible institution as a first-year student) is established and funded from the net proceeds of the state lottery and awarded to independent students as determined by the FAFSA application and who has enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program at a Tennessee eligible four-year postsecondary institution.

The Tennessee STEP UP Scholarship is a program designed to assist students with intellectual disabilities who have completed high school and enroll in a two-year individualized program at an eligible postsecondary institution.

The HOPE Scholarship provides scholarship aid to Tennessee residents attending an eligible Tennessee college or university who maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. Most Tennessee Colleges are eligible and award amounts vary by school and are typically between $1,600 and $2,850 per semester for full-time students.
