The General Assembly Merit Scholarship acts as a supplement to the Tennessee Hope Scholarship for highly competitive students.

The Tennessee HOPE Aspire Award is a need-based supplement to the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship.

This scholarship serves as a supplement to the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship for foster children (defined as students who have been in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children's Services for at least one year after reaching age fourteen).

The HOPE Scholarship for nontraditional age students (that is, ones who are at least 25 years of age entering an eligible institution as a first-year student) is established and funded from the net proceeds of the state lottery and awarded to independent students as determined by the FAFSA application and who has enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program at a Tennessee eligible four-year postsecondary institution.
